dicas and Viewcast in "best of breed" MPEG-4 partnership

Snell & Wilcox License mpegable SDK 1.4
Berlin - dicas today announced that Snell & Wilcox, the world leading broadcast engineering group, has licensed dicas' mpegable SDK 1.4 video coding solution.
This recently released version of mpegable SDK expands on the performance and features of its successful predecessor, which was the first MPEG-4 SDK to support the coding of arbitrarily shaped objects and B-frame coding. mpegable SDK 1.4 is available for Windows (9x, NT 4.0, 2000, XP), Linux, Solaris, Apple OS X and PocketPC.

Munich University of Technology is using mpegable SDK 1.2
Berlin. dicas is pleased to announce that the Institute for Information and Communication Technology at the Munich University of Technology (TUM) has decided to use mpegable SDK 1.2.
Prof Dr Klaus Diepold's research group at TUM is concerned with the development of innovative software tools to enable the seamless creation of interactive media content based on the MPEG-4 standard. The approach is envisioned to include recent techniques and results from Computer Vision and Computer Graphics in combination with MPEG-4 based audio and video codecs to create a new experience in content creation. The Institute for Information and Communication Technology at TUM is a member of the MPEG-4 Industry Forum (www.m4if.org).

dicas launch first fully MPEG-4-compliant consumer video codec

Berlin, Germany - Software vendor dicas today announced the release of mpegable X4. This PC based software converts media files (AVI, MPEG-1) into MPEG-4 files (Advanced Simple Visual Profile, AAC LC), and offers real-time software encoding on high end PCs without compression hardware. The free demo version of the software package features a limited functionality MPEG-4 codec, but offers a fully functional MPEG-4 player. The full featured version costs $25. Both PC multimedia and DV enthusiasts will appreciate the disk-saving file sizes and high video quality of MPEG-4.
mpegable X4 is a Windows based stand alone application to convert media data to MPEG-4 files implementing the MPEG-4 encoder for video and audio data and enables real-time encoding on MMX-based processors above 500 MHz without any additional compression hardware.
mpegable X4 is aimed at end-users, who want to take advantage of the emerging multimedia standard MPEG-4 and is released in two versions: The full version can be purchased for $25. The free demo version is limited to 10 minutes of encoding with the mpegable logo embedded in the encoded video. Both versions are available from the mpegable website (www.mpegable.com). Both versions come with mpegable Player, a fully ISO MPEG-4 compliant player.
mpegable X4 is extremely easy to use but at the same time offers unrivaled functionalities, such as real-time encoding with bitrates scalable from 20kBit/sec to 1.5MBit/sec (constant and variable mode), a preview window, user defined resolutions of up to 352x288, pre-processing for cropping, down-sampling and de-interlacing, automatic scene cut detection and batch processing with a configurable job list of up to ten jobs.
Users will be able, for example, to experience a lot of saved space in their video archives and also to store a two hour TV quality video film on a regular CD assuming that the video has been encoded at a bitrate of 750KBit/sec.

Berlin / Stockholm - dicas and Popwire have entered into a partnership on MPEG-4, which is focused on the utilization of mpegable technology in Popwire products and services.
Popwire specializes in advanced encoding and decoding solutions for audio and video. Popwire's encoding tools enable the distribution of large amounts of data in multiple formats and bit rates over wireless and fixed networks. Release of mpegableDS for MPEG-4 real-time encoding

dicas joins the MPEG-4 Industry Forum (M4IF)
Berlin. Dicas have joined the MPEG-4 Industry Forum (M4IF).
The M4IF represents more than 100 companies from diverse industries evenly distributed across North America, Europe and Asia, addressing MPEG-4 adoption issues that go beyond the charter of ISO/IEC MPEG. Activities of the M4IF include an interoperability program, certification, several working groups, access to ISO/MPEG committee members, and an annual conference (WEMP-4).
"Joining M4IF and actively contributing to the work and activities of it, particularly on the interoperability side, will give us the opportunity to much better participate in the promotion of MPEG-4 to encourage more companies, particularly content providers, to embrace and use this exciting multimedia standard.
