dicas today announced that Avid Technology (NASDAQ: AVID) has licensed its mpegable AVC decoder.
mpegable AVC decoder, with support for the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 High Profile, allows the decoding of HDTV signals (with resolutions of 1920x1080) on regular PCs running a Dual Core processor and is specifically optimised for x86 platforms.
Avid and dicas are already cooperating for some time on the development of software video codecs and this specific version of mpegable AVC decoder is the result of a joint effort between both companies.
Avid offers mpegable AVC decoder as part of its new range of DVB-S2 capable PCTV products.
